CBS said ‘The Talk’ will finish in December after 15 seasons.

Daytime chat show "The Talk" is ending after many successful seasons. On Friday, CBS revealed that the discussion show would be ending after 15 seasons in December.

Sara Gilbert, an actress, conceived of "The Talk" as a panel of female hosts discussing controversial issues and breaking news, similar to ABC's "The View." In an interview with Press in 2011, Gilbert revealed that it was inspired by her real-life gatherings of "mom friends" who would converse. The concept of "a motley crew you would never really put together, but then suddenly there's all this commonality" appealed to her.

Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Leah Remini, and Holly Robinson Peete were the hosts when the show premiered in 2010. A roaming reporter who would be working in the field, Marissa Jaret Winokur was recruited. After the first season, there was a change in hosts. The post of Winokur was eliminated, and Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler succeeded Peete and Robinson.

Over the course of its tenure, "The Talk" would see multiple hosts come and go. Following her husband, Les Moonves's, dismissal from CBS Corp. in 2018 as a result of sexual misconduct claims, Chen departed the show.

Even though he is no longer her on-camera co-host, Gilbert is still an executive producer. The contentious on-air argument between Osbourne and Underwood on racism in 2021 was a major factor in Osbourne's decision to leave.

Only Underwood has been with "The Talk" from the beginning and is still a regular. She is seated next to Akbar Gbajabiamila, Jerry O'Connell, Amanda Kloots, and Natalie Morales.

"It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task," stated CBS’s Amy Reisenbach and David Stapf, who are presidents of CBS Studios and CBS Entertainment, respectively. Their "sincere gratitude" was extended to the hosts, producers, and crew, and they also paid respect to "former show hosts and colleagues who contributed throughout the seasons."

Season 14 of the 11-time Daytime Emmy winner will conclude in June. In the autumn, it will debut its fifteenth and last season.
