A cameo appearance was made by retired Eagles center Jason Kelce and current Eagles lineman Lane Johnson at WrestleMania, which took place this weekend at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The cameo appearance took place on Saturday night. In light of the fact that Johnson is still bound by his contract with the Eagles, the question arose as to whether or not he was engaging in behavior that violates the terms of the agreement.
It is not a brand-new problem. The Tennessee Titans filed a lawsuit against cornerback Pacman Jones in 2007 in an effort to prevent him from engaging in professional wrestling while he was serving a one-year suspension under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. And the Titans emerged victorious.
When asked about the matter at the time, Titans spokesman Robbie Bohren stated that "all NFL players have language in their contracts that prohibits them from engaging in activities that may involve a significant risk of personal injury
There is no doubt in our minds that wrestling is a dangerous sport, and it is abundantly clear from the player's actions that he is disregarding this particular provision of the agreements he has made with the club.
This was not a problem for Johnson. The Eagles have stated that the team was aware of Johnson's intention to participate in the event.
In addition, the film demonstrates that he did not do anything much. All of the physical exercises were handled by Kelce. The only thing Johnson did was cheer while holding a chair.
In spite of the fact that the outcomes are predetermined, the activity is genuine. Injuries are a reality. In the end, Johnson did not take any actions that could put his chance to play in 2024 in jeopardy.
